After graduating from the Digital Film Factory at Douglas Education Center, Madeline Deering was featured in Breeding Farm, which Deering co-wrote with Cody Knotts, and Gore Orphanage. In 2019, and with a few thousand dollars in hand, Deering wrote and directed Spirit Animal. The shot on video (SOV) horror was received with positive reviews. With that success, Deering went on to direct several shorts for the Natasha Nighty's Boudoir of Blood anthology series.
